                                                  THE REVIEWS

Anyone who remembers the feeding frenzy that accompanied the release of  Craviotto’s Lake Superior snare drums will be interested to learn about what was  brewing over at Ancient Tree Drum Company’s booth at the 2011 Chicago Drum Show.  Like Craviotto’s infamous limited-edition snares, Ancient Tree introduced a  series of stave-shell snare drums made from salvaged hard pine and hard cypress
that had been recovered from a riverbed, where it had lain for between 100—150  years. You really have to see this the tight growth pattern on these gorgeous shells, which sound crisp from edge to center...DRUM MAGIZINE

Beautiful stave drum from Ancient Tree. Crisp attack, super sensitive and  crazy warmth. Can’t wait to see more from this Floridian builderDrum Gear Review

I love this drum!  As I mentioned, I haven't taken off my kit since I put
it there last year......I think this is one of the most versital and warmest drum I own and there is no sacrifice of the "crack"....it cuts right
through!...the rock maple hoops don't even have a dent in them.  I  am adding your logo to my list and web-site (when completed) with pride.Brian Hill.. Owner On The Ropes,Writer for Not So Modern Drums
I am absolutely enjoying the snare.  Truly a work of excellent
craftsmanship!  I have never played a drum of stave construction.  It
has proven so far to be an endless discovery of tonality.  I would like to ask what the story is behind the snare throw that was put on it.  That alone is the coolest thing I've seen as far as inivation goes. Will Trillegate

When it comes to custom snare drums, there's custom and then there's ultra custom drums made by companies like Ancient Tree Drums. Despite the "ancient" moniker, the shell on this 14" x 6" snare is not petrified. Instead, it,s made from staves of cypress from trees reclaimed from riverbeds. The segmented wood hoops combine rock maple and cherry. This drum may look like an art piece, but it,s made to be played and it sounds great. ...DRUM MAGIZINE
